Changing seasons and YOUR health

Every year when the weather changes we see an increase in viral infections, colds and seasonal flu. Keep yourself healthy with these easy tips (as heard on the Fearless Fred Show).

1) Wash your hands - proper hand washing technique requires soap and water, actually scrubbing your hands together and at least 30s of your time.

2) Sleep - your body produces growth hormone at night when you're sleeping which is one mechanism of restoration and repair for your body and immune system. Get adequate shut-eye and try to go to bed at the same time each night, wake at the same time each morning to optimize your body's natural sleep cycle.

3) Sugar - don't eat it! Stick with natural sugars from fruits like berries that are also jammed full of antioxidants and vitamin C.

4) Protein - make sure you're getting enough. Your whole immune system is composed of protein and antibodies. Ensure you're consuming lean meats, fish, beans, nuts and seeds to get enough protein and keep your immune system strong.
